Production process

Setting up the equipment

The following equipment we used was in the making of our production:

  • Sony FDR-AX53 Digital Video Camera
  • NTG2 Boom Microphone
  • TASCAM DR-40 Digital Audio Recorder
  • Neewer Shoulder Rig
  • Zoom H1n Digital Audio Recorder
  • Tripod
  • Zeadio Handle Grip
Before we left to go and film we made sure that our equipment is ready and well prepared, which including testing the boom mic and making sure that the audio was coming out smoothly and Formatting the SD card so that nay filming we do, we have enough space to take multiple shots for different scenes and multiple sound records. We also prepped the boom pole by wrapping the cable around the boom pole to create a minimal cable mess. Apart from these couple of things the equipment was already well prepped.

On location, we set up the camera settings by correcting the exposure levels and balancing the brightness so the shots would be clear and to the quality that we can get it. We also on site adjusted the shoulder mount and the tripod that joe and I would be using during the filming process.

Following the Script

For the majority of the filming, we followed the script with a few tweaks here and there to develop the filming and the storyline of the script. We shared a digital version of the script that all members of the group had access to so they could use their phone for the story and the script.

Following Safe Work Practices

When filming we made sure to follow our safe work practices and produced location reeces and risk assessments to try and identify the possible dangers of recording in a public place, to try and reduce the frequency of these incidents.

The risk assessments go into detail about each risk that may come up and answer what you should do if they were to happen and also how to try and avoid coming across them.

Location Reeces are also in detail photos about the locations of filming and also include contact details in case of emergency and site information.

Production process

As we prepared to go out filming we double checked who was operating what and what roles the actors have in the script. Ben ended up playing the secondary character and Louis played the main character. Joe did most of the filming with me doing some final shots at the end of the field scene. I did the Sound for the scenes and was using the boom mic out of shot to capture the sound in a higher quality instead of using Joes on the go mic or the built-in camera microphone. whilst filming the team remembered to abide by ethical laws and legal laws of filming, by not intentionally film anyone without their consent or cause disruption in the areas of filming. We also took multiple shots for longer scenes so that the scene wouldn't seem boring or continuous.

At the end of the day we shared the copy of the footage between the five of us and began editing the footage into this rough Edit:
